LAMOTTE ERIN ALEXANDRA (Sep. 2025 - Dec. 2025)
1. Why did you decide to come study in Japan and choose Chukyo University?
I wanted to study in Japan because I’ve always been fascinated in its history and culture. I’ve always been a fan of anime and other popular things that originated in Japan, so I’ve thought Japan was interesting since I was little. I chose Chukyo University specifically because it was more affordable than the other options (at least through ISEP), and the class sizes seemed more reasonable. I don’t like big classes, and even though some of my classes have over 40 people in them, it’s not that scary. A lot of other factors also went into making this decision but I don’t want to talk forever.
2. How do you think you have matured through your studies at Chukyo? Please share your experiences, events, or feelings while studying at Chukyo University.
I think I’ve definitely grown in many ways throughout my time at Chukyo. My mindset on many things has also changed for the better. I’ve gotten a lot more outgoing and gotten used to having to be a leader when I have to. I think my passion for learning has also been reignited. Over the past year (before coming here) I had found my classes fairly easy and to not be much of a challenge for me. While being at Chukyo, I’ve been challenged by my classes in a way that makes learning still fun. There were many fun events that occurred while I was here, but my favorite has got to be the first couple weeks when all of us girls were bonding over the excruciating heat wave that happened in Nagoya. We had to carry all of our luggage to the top floor in the dorm on a day that reached a record high in the area. Then we took a roundabout way to get to the station that same week! We must have walked an extra half a mile! I’ve had many feelings during my time here, but I think I’ll never forget the joyous times I’ve shared with everyone, along with the sadness of having to leave all our friends.
3. How do you hope to make use of this experience in the future?
I plan to utilize it by adding it to my resume and portfolio so I can (hopefully) get a better job. I’m also thinking of applying for the Jet program, but will probably take a year after graduating to think about it. I think this experience will help me with job applications.
4. Finally, please give a message to juniors who are considering studying at Chukyo University in the future.
Do it! Everyone is so nice here and I made an amazing best friend. The classes are all very amazing and the teachers are incredibly helpful and understanding. I got sick with the flu for a whole week and the teachers were incredibly understanding and supportive, only wishing me the best and wishing for a good recovery. If you get Mr. Armstrong or Mr. Moriyama you’ll have a great time!
