Exchange Student's Story: US student's visit to high school for "One-day ALT Experience"
Exchange student interacted with Chukyo University Senior High School students
On June 9, Joei Giang Southivong, an exchange student at Chukyo University from California State University, San Marcos, U.S.A., visited Chukyo University Senior High School and strengthened exchanges with the high school students. Upon hearing about Ms. Southivong's desire to become a teacher, the high school offered this project as a chance to interact with students.
During her visit, Ms. Southivong actively participated in classes across all grades, engaging in lively discussions with our students. She also took the initiative to learn more about the Japanese education system by asking questions to our teachers and staff, thereby enriching her understanding of Japanese schools.
Message from Ms. Southivong
I have heard that school education in Japan is rigorous and sometimes puts much pressure on students. During this visit, however, I was surprised by how cheerful the class was. I learned that the atmosphere created by the teaching staff is communicated to the students, playing an essential role in developing the overall image of the school. This experience was very beneficial for me to know what a Japanese school is like.
