1. Why did you decide to come study in Japan and choose Chukyo University?

I have been learning Japanese since I was in high school, so I wanted to improve my Japanese skills while actually living in Japan. So I came to Japan as an exchange student before graduating from university.

There are many reasons why Chukyo University was chosen. It is located in Nagoya, a third city in Japan that is close to Tokyo and Osaka but is not a tourist destination, is actively engaged in international exchanges, has a good buddy program, helps students live in dormitories near the school, and allows exchange students to take any undergraduate classes.

2. How do you think you have matured through your studies at Chukyo? Please share your experiences, events, or feelings while studying at Chukyo University.

100 days have passed since I lived at Chukyo University. I felt and learned a lot here.

1) Exchange students can also take undergraduate classes, so they choose classes related to their majors. While taking classes in Japanese, I learned how education is progressing in my major field in Japan. In addition, I learned the words and expressions used in real studies and helped improve my Japanese skills.

2) Take the Japanese test while proceeding with the first OT. Therefore, you can take classes that match your Japanese skills. Some students start learning Japanese from the beginning, while others have sufficient skills and do not take Japanese classes.

3) Many events will be held at VOICE, an exchange student volunteer club. Naturally, you can make friends with Japanese members of VOICE, and you can make friends from various countries because you have many opportunities to meet other exchange students. VOICE’s events are held in English and Japanese, so they also help your English conversation skills.

4) The global education center(GEC) is open to exchange students and to Chukyo University students at any time. So you can eat there and talk to your friends. It is convenient because there is a space where you can visit like this in the school.

5) Through ‘global talk hour’ program, I met a friend who is learning my first language, Korean. It is a program that helps mentees learn Korean by becoming a mentor. Not only did I meet good friends through this, but it was also very helpful for me to learn various Japanese.

6) Chukyo University has various physical education classes, so I take the badminton class. I think it's a special experience because Korean universities don't have a chance to take physical education classes. Also, while playing sports with students at Chukyo University, I was able to interact with various Japanese friends.

3. How do you hope to make use of this experience in the future?

For the first time, I lived abroad for a long time. Based on this experience, I have gained confidence that I will be able to live well anywhere. I have made a lot of foreign friends, so I hope we can exchange help when we need each other.

In addition, because I want to study Japanese more, my perspective on career choices such as graduate school entrance or working holidays has expanded.

4. Finally, please give a message to juniors who are considering studying at Chukyo University in the future.

Chukyo University will offer you more opportunities than you think. If you want to make many friends, experience, travel, and improve your Japanese skills in Japan, I recommend Chukyo University. I hope you get more things than the advantages I mentioned.
