KASS SYDNEY (Sep. 2025 - Feb. 2026)

1. Why did you decide to come study in Japan and choose Chukyo University?

It’s been a long-time dream of mine to come to Japan. I was especially interested in Chukyo University because of the unique chance to participate in classes fully taught in Japanese and the various extra opportunities hosted by GEC. I can say that I definitely wasn’t left disappointed!

2. How do you think you have matured through your studies at Chukyo? Please share your experiences, events, or feelings while studying at Chukyo University.

I’ve become more independent and confident in myself! Having grown up in such a small country, I’ve seen how easy it is to stay stuck in one place, which is why I set out to experience as much as possible during this brief stay. It was quite fun seeing how classes that seemed difficult at first quickly became my favorites, and how my Japanese skills improved to the point that reading my own writing from months ago became slightly hilarious.

3. How do you hope to make use of this experience in the future?

I came to Chukyo with the goal of understanding if and how I want to stay connected to Japan in the future, and I quickly confirmed this is exactly where I want to be in life. However, no matter where I actually end up, the skills, experiences and connections I made here will stay with me forever.

4. Finally, please give a message to juniors who are considering studying at Chukyo University in the future.

Everyone can have a really different experience in the same program, but I think Chukyo is the best choice especially for first-time exchange students just because of how supportive everyone is (shout out to the wonderful people at GEC and VOICE). If you have the opportunity to study here, try to challenge yourself as much as possible, but most of all, make sure to have fun!
And don’t mind if you gain a few pounds from all the amazing food.
