1. Why did you decide to come study in Japan and choose Chukyo University?

I’ve always wanted to experience life in Japan and dreamed of studying there. I had been learning Japanese for a while, so I really hoped to improve my language skills by actually living in Japan. After I finished all my required credits in my senior year, I find out that there was an opportunity to apply for an exchange program at Chukyo University in Nagoya. After doing some research, I realized that Chukyo University is a great school, so I decided to apply right away.

2. How do you think you have matured through your studies at Chukyo? Please share your experiences, events, or feelings while studying at Chukyo University.

I feel that I’ve grown a lot during one year as an exchange student at Chukyo. Not only did my Japanese improve, but I also became much more independent. In the Japanese classes for exchange students, the teachers were always so dedicated and supportive. Japanese students were also really friendly and eager to become friends with us. We had many chances to exchange cultures and take part in different events they organized for us, like the university’s cultural festival, Halloween and Christmas parties, the Tanabata event, and the International Fair. These experiences helped me feel more connected to Japanese culture and daily life, and made my campus life full of great memories. I’m truly thankful to GEC for always taking such good care of us exchange students!

3. How do you hope to make use of this experience in the future?

I believe this exchange experience will be really valuable for my future. First, I want to continue improving my Japanese and use it in both academic and professional settings. Since I had the chance to communicate with people from different cultures and adapt to a new environment, I feel more confident stepping out of my comfort zone. I hope to use what I’ve learned both language skills and cultural understanding?in my future career, especially if I work in an international company or in a job that involves Japan. Also, this experience reminded me how important it is to stay open-minded and curious, and I want to keep that mindset moving forward.

4. Finally, please give a message to juniors who are considering studying at Chukyo University in the future.

If you’re thinking about studying at Chukyo University?go for it! I truly recommend it. The university offers a great environment for international students, with kind and supportive teachers, friendly classmates, and a lot of opportunities to join cultural and social events. Through these experiences, you won’t just improve your Japanese?you’ll also make unforgettable memories and grow so much as a person. I’m really glad I chose Chukyo, and I believe you will be too!
