Ewha Womans University, Korea 2025
AN, YUBIN (Apr. 2025 - Aug. 2025)
1. Why did you decide to come study in Japan and choose Chukyo University?
I’ve always been interested in Japanese culture, and after obtaining my JLPT certification, I began looking for opportunities where I could make use of it. That’s when I decided to study abroad in Japan. Compared to other Japanese universities, Chukyo University stood out to me because of the strong support it offers to exchange students, both before and after arriving in Japan. Since I was preparing everything on my own, that level of support felt reassuring. In particular, the buddy program seemed like a great way to help me adjust to life and studies in a foreign country.
2. How do you think you have matured through your studies at Chukyo? Please share your experiences, events, or feelings while studying at Chukyo University.
Before coming to Japan, I was more interested in learning how the language is used in real life rather than just studying for tests like the JLPT. At Chukyo, I was able to meet not only my buddy but also many Japanese students, and I had the chance to talk with them in Japanese. Through those conversations, I learned many natural expressions that aren’t found in textbooks. Having conversations in Japanese is something I couldn’t easily experience in Korea, so being here has been an incredibly valuable and unique opportunity.
3. How do you hope to make use of this experience in the future?
Although many of my friends in Japan could speak Korean, I made an effort to communicate in Japanese as much as possible. Whenever I didn’t know a word during a conversation, I asked my Japanese friends right away. Living in Japan for five months is a rare opportunity, so I tried to make the most of every experience I could only have here. I believe these efforts and experiences will continue to help me grow personally and academically in the future.
4. Finally, please give a message to juniors who are considering studying at Chukyo University in the future.
Chukyo University is very welcoming and supportive toward exchange students. The university helps with everything that might be difficult to handle on your own. If you're worried about studying abroad in Japan, Chukyo is a great place to feel supported while also experiencing authentic student life in Japan. I highly recommend it to anyone thinking of coming here.
