Kennesaw State University, USA 2025
PURYEAR, RICHARD JUSTIN (Sep. 2024 - Aug. 2025)
1. Why did you decide to come study in Japan and choose Chukyo University?
I love a challenge, and I knew putting myself in such a foreign culture would be a great one. I studied in Japan not only to learn the language and culture, but to learn about myself. Chukyo was a great starting point for that, I was able to immerse myself not only in education but also the sports of Japan aswell. I encountered talented people with extreme levels of discipline, but also relaxed students who were carefree and always down to party. I am grateful to Chukyo for allowing me to see another world. It has changed my life.
2. How do you think you have matured through your studies at Chukyo? Please share your experiences, events, or feelings while studying at Chukyo University.
I have become much more culturally aware. Unfortunately, I dealt with long-term illness during the winter months and had to navigate the medical world on my own. There were many things that I didn't know, and many things I was uncomfortable with. But I took them head-on and became a stronger man today.
3. How do you hope to make use of this experience in the future?
I will work abroad and continue this exploration. I only have one life, so I will ensure I make the most out of it. Chukyo has inspired me to continue my education in law and possibly study once again at a major university here in Japan.
4. Finally, please give a message to juniors who are considering studying at Chukyo University in the future.
I highly recommend it. Ogata-san and Chie-san, will be in charge of you, and they are some of the kindest people I have met. Study at Chukyo, and I can assure you, you will be taken care of.
