Event Report: Murakumo Elementary School Visit 11/12
CHUKYO GLOBAL - International Exchange Class - at Murakumo Elementary School
hukyo University, in collaboration with Nagoya City Murakumo Elementary School, sent exchange students and members of VOICE (Volunteer Organization for InterCulture Exchange)* to the school on November 12 as part of the "CHUKYO GLOBAL - International Exchange Class."
This initiative aims to familiarize third- and fourth-grade elementary students with foreign languages and cultures as part of their foreign language activities. The students engaged in conversations using the phrase "What do you like?" to ask the exchange students questions, and they also answered questions posed by the exchange students, with the goal of mastering English phrases.
After the class, the exchange students joined the elementary students for lunch in their classroom, fostering further interaction. The elementary students actively approached the visitors, making efforts to communicate in English. Feedback from the students included comments like, "It was fun to interact with exchange students whom I don't usually meet." Elementary school teachers also praised the initiative, stating, "I believe the children will develop an interest not only in foreign languages but also in foreign cultures," and noted that "the students were proactive in speaking, and the exchange students responded well."
Chukyo University will continue to engage in such initiatives and contribute to local education.
