Event Report: Chukyo Global Exchange Class -Elementary School Visit- 11/06

CSEP students’ visit to Yagoto Elementary School for Chukyo Global Exchange Class

On November 6, nine exchange students from three countries - the United States, the United Kingdom, and France – and four student members of the Volunteer Organization for InterCulture Exchange (VOICE) collaborated with Yagoto Elementary School in Nagoya to carry out the international exchange project, "CHUKYO GLOBAL - International Exchange Class."

This class was aimed at sixth-grade elementary school students and was conducted with the objectives of promoting international exchange and cultural understanding.

In the first half of the class, the nine exchange students set up booths divided by country to introduce their home countries. The elementary school students rotated through each country's booth, deepening their understanding by asking pre-prepared questions. In the second half, the elementary school students introduced traditional Japanese games, while the exchange students had the opportunity to experience various activities such as kendama, ohajiki, and shogi-kuzushi.

Feedback from the elementary students included comments like, "I discovered new things about foreign countries," and "I became interested in foreign cultures." On the other hand, exchange students remarked, "It was educational to learn about the Japanese elementary school system," making it a valuable opportunity for both groups.
