Event Report: Inviting International Students to the Welcome Party 04/11

Inviting International Students to the Welcome Party!

On April 11th, a "Welcome Party" organized by the International Exchange Volunteer group, VOICE, was held on the Nagoya campus, attracting a large number of international students. The party kicked off in a lively atmosphere, with VOICE members acting as hosts, delivering speeches, and explaining the rules in English.

During the initial free talk session, VOICE members gathered around the international students, engaging in enjoyable conversations. Smiles were abundant in every group, creating a warm and friendly ambiance throughout the venue.

Next, participants took part in a bingo game, where they wrote down their favorite numbers on sheets of paper to create unique bingo cards. They predicted which numbers would be called while discussing among themselves to complete their cards. This game was more than just a typical bingo; it included discussion themes such as "My favorite Japanese food" and "Highlights of my home country," fostering deeper connections among participants. VOICE members actively supported the participants, ensuring they could engage with various people. Those who achieved bingo received original merchandise from Chukyo University as prizes, adding to the excitement and joy of the attendees.

VOICE members who participated in the party shared their thoughts, saying, "It was a great experience to take part in welcoming international students," and "I made a conscious effort to engage actively while having fun." Meanwhile, international students expressed, "Speaking was challenging, but thanks to the VOICE members leading the conversations, I enjoyed chatting," and "It was very interesting to talk about cultures different from my own."

The "Welcome Party" served as a valuable opportunity for both current students and international students to create wonderful memories and deepen their connections. There will be continued attention on VOICE's efforts to promote exchanges with international students in the future.
